Holographs of Rudyard Kipling's short story "Vain horses" and poem "A song of the white men". Accompanied by [3 p.] typescript contents with background information supplied by the collector William M. Carpenter with transcriptions of the two manuscripts and background information about the items. Also includes inscribed copy of a photomechanical reproduction of the John Collier 1891 original portrait of Kipling which the collector asserts was presented by Kipling to Julian Ralph. Also includes a pen & ink sketch "This the Dutch compositor" signed by Kipling and a newspaper clipping with the poem "A song of the white men."
